I am building a small guitar - a Gibson LG-2 3/4 - out of Osage Orange, and I have come up with a fabulous OO 4X4 for a neck.

Can someone give an opinion about using OO for necks? I believe it will be very stable, but I am a little worried about the weight.

thanks

I concur with Filippo. It is very heavy wood and I think the weight makes it largely unsuitable for an acoustic guitar neck.

I've seen a few pieces with decent grain, but a lot of it seemed pretty twisty. But my experience with osage is what comes out of hedgerows for the most part, so - limited.
